A pair of Cotswold school rush chairs designed by Ernest Gimson in 1906. Originally called the Mission chair this design has been named the Bedales chair after being used in the library of the Bedales school. The Bedale chair is still being made, passed down through a working lineage from Gimson and these examples I believe were made in the 2nd half of the 20th century by Neville Neal whose son Lawrence and grandson Daniel carry on the tradition today. These chairs, one armchair and one side chair are in lovely clean, solid condition including the rush . Armchair Height 97cm, width 57cm, depth 48cm, seat height 44cm.
