A set of 8 dining chairs from the utilty range of furniture labelled cc41 which were available in the ration years to newly weds and people whose houses had been bombed. The design team for this furniture was led by Gordon Russell who designed this model of chair. These chairs were from the Chiltern range and the chair itself was the model 3A. These chairs are mainly oak but due to the scarcity of materials during this period there are some components of Beech and Teak. The chairs are all in completely solid condition although have some slight colour variation between them and 2 chairs have a 5mm taller back. All the seat heights are 45cm.The chairs are fully reupholstered in a quality woven blue/white fabric.
